the set of SPIDER BABY, 1964.

The following year, Chaney took on the lead role in Jack Hill’s SPIDER BABY, playing the lovable role of Bruno, the family caretaker. While Chaney continued acting, the quality of the scripts he was offered began to deteriorate – culminating in the Al Adamson schlock-fest, DRACULA VS FRANKENSTEIN (1971). In this notorious film, he played the role of Groton, the vengeful servant of Dr. Frankenstein. Lon Chaney Jr. passed away just two years later at the age of sixty-seven. Chaney’s acting career still finds audiences to this day, with WOLF MAN memorabilia selling regularly at conventions, toy stores and comic book shops worldwide. His role in SPIDER BABY is widely considered his last great performance.
